The Ekiti State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed the statement issued by members-elect of the House of Representatives from the state on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, saying they should stop branding Governor Ayodele Fayose as God-anointed.
The Ekiti State APC said the Reps-elect were shying away from the issues raised by the party.
In a statement by its publicity secretary, Mr Taiwo Olatunbosun, the party argued that “It is surprising that PDP in its reaction did not fault any of our claims on the quality of the membership of the House of Assembly as presently constituted, but went on a puerile, petulant and inane attempt to shift attention from our main argument that Ekiti House of Assembly is having the worst membership composition in history in the hallowed chamber to protect the governor instead of quality membership with courage and education to understand the serious business of law-making for the benefit of all Ekiti peopleâ€
The party, however, said that “instead of faulting us, PDP confirmed the fears we raised when it called on the new members to be loyal to Governor Ayodele Fayose to avoid the 19 APC lawmakers’ experienceâ€.
Besides, APC wondered when it has become a norm for the “lawmakers to be loyal to the governor before the executive and legislature can work in harmonyâ€.
Faulting remarks by the Reps-elect, the party said “it is particularly shocking that PDP’s reaction is coming from the House of Representatives members-elect, which seems to compound our fears that Ekiti State will be represented at both state and national levels by clueless individuals who owe allegiance to Fayose and not the people that elected themâ€.
“We advise that PDP should stop branding Fayose as God-anointed. The whole world knows and understands the process that produced himâ€, the APC stated.
