The police on Tuesday arraigned one 25-year-old driver, Samaila Yahuza of Katampe, Abuja, in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving stolen property.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Gideon Ekomson, told the court that on May 26, one Robert Aniyah of Proton Security Service Company, Abuja, reported the matter at Wuse Police Station.
The prosecutor said that the accused dishonestly received 300 litres of diesel from one Haruna Sambo, who is now at large.
Ekomson said that Sambo was the security guard of the above mentioned company, who stole the 300 litres of diesel from the said company.
He said that the accused was caught while buying another stolen diesel from the Sambo, but Sambo escaped while the accused was apprehended.
He said that the offence contravened Section 316 of Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.
Senior Magistrate Aliyu Shaffa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Shaffa also ordered that the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the matter till July 6 for hearing (NAN).
