At least one person has died while several others sustained various degree of injuries, when a truck believed to have had a break failure on Tuesday morning ran into a fuel queue at Dutse in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The incident which occurred around 9:00am at AYM Shafa petrol station threw the community into complete mourning, with commuters left stranded and confused.
Although there were different accounts of the accident, Vanguard gathered that the incident affected the motor cyclists (okada) who were at the queue to purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
An eye witness said the okada riders queue extended to the express road linking Dutse with Bwari in Abuja, making them very vulnerable to the accident.
The source revealed that three of the ‘okada riders’ who were involved in the accident were critically injured and currently receiving treatment.
As at the time of filling this report, the Manager of the petrol station was nowhere to be found, while the staff and pump attendants refused to speak to anybody on the incident.
