Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United: Magical Mata makes the difference as Gerrard sees red



The Spaniard scored a brilliant brace at Anfield, while the midfielder was dismissed for a stamp on Ander Herrera seconds after coming on in a fiery encounter on Sunday afternoon Juan Mata’s brace gave Manchester United a 2-1
win over 10-man Liverpool at Anfield in a fiery clash on Sunday.

The Spaniard opened the scoring with an exquisite first-half finish, before adding his second in acrobatic fashion in the 59th minute as United took all three points despite Wayne Rooney’s late penalty miss.

Liverpool pulled a goal back through Daniel Sturridge after Mata’s second, but were not
helped in their quest for an equaliser by the sending off of Steven Gerrard, with the midfielder dismissed for a stamp on Ander Herrera just 25
seconds after coming on for Adam Lallana at half-time.
