3 men in India were brutally assaulted by an angry mob after the body of a\r\nyoung girl was found hanging from a tree.\r\nThe 7-year-old girl had gone to a local shop in the village of Kaliabazar, West\r\nBengal and when she didn\'t return, the villagers went to search for her and\r\nfound her body.\r\nRumours quickly spread that she had been raped and for yet unexplained\r\nreasons, suspicion fell on Ratan Das, a local witch doctor and his two friends.\r\nThe accused were then attacked and mercilessly beaten by the villagers. They\r\nalso set fire to a house belonging to Das. One of the 3 men died in hospital\r\nwhile the other 2 are still receiving treatment.\r\nThe police have said that it is not yet clear if the girl was actually raped before\r\nshe died. According to Sukesh Kumar Jain, East Midnapore Superintendent of\r\nPolice:\r\n\quot;There is as yet no evidence that the girl was raped before she was killed.\r\nPolice said they are not ruling out a family feud as the motive behind the killing.\r\nWe are awaiting the autopsy report to confirm rape,\'said a police officer. There\r\nwas also some enmity between the families of the girl and the prime accused,\r\nRatan Das.\quot;\r\nTensions have been high in India, which has become notorious for violent rape\r\ncases, ever since the bodies of two young sisters were found hanging from a\r\ntree in Uttar Pradesh after they had been gang-raped.
