Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has called on Nigerians at home and abroad to rally round President Muhammadu Buhari on the reforms and steps taken by the administration to build a new Nigeria.

Governor Sani Bello made the call yesterday at the Nigerian Young Professionals Summit in USA, while speaking on the theme: ‘‘X-raying our Current Economic Challenges as a Nation and Foreign Policy, Prospects and Solutions’’.
He said Buhari was committed to building a new Nigeria, but insisted that he cannot do it alone.

Sani Bello went on to disclose the feeling of the President over the economic recession.
“President Buhari is indeed sad about the development. He is not happy that Nigeria plunged into recession, that is the truth. And that his why he has ordered exploration of all avenues to get the country out of this challenge soon.

“He is a committed leader who has passion for the development of Nigeria. I know that his love for Nigeria is unequal. But it is also clear that he cannot do it alone, he needs us to stand by him”, he added.

Sani Bello who noted that many countries, including the United States go through recession, said with the current effort by the federal government, Nigeria and Nigerians would come out “stronger and better.”

He said, “Let the change begin with us. As people interested in the future of this country, we must rally round and support the efforts of the Federal Government in crushing corruption in all facets and entrench good governance, building strong institutions for sustainable development and progress of our nation”.

Meanwhile, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria, APBN, said in Lagos yesterday that the economic recession in the country was not bad as it was being painted.

Outgoing-President/Chairman in Council of the body, Mr. Gabriel Fasoto, said this at the 32nd Annual General Assembly, AGA.

He said: “It is only the harmonisation of these resources that we (Nigeria) need and only the professionals can assist government to quickly get out of the current situation. We have everything it requires to get out of this mess.

“It was recently we discovered that government was not taking us seriously, we then felt the need to come together as a united front and then proffer suggestions to government.

“It took time before government realised that they are supposed to take professionals more seriously.

I want to assure you that they have increased the number of professionals in the country’s affairs. We are partnering with them, and we believe that they will take our advices more seriously than ever before.”

However, Pastor William Kumuyi, General Superintendent, Deeper Life Bible Church, has expressed optimism that the current economic recession would end soon if the right policies were put in place.
