The current fuel shortage in Lagos
may soon worsen following a
technical fault that has forced the
Satelite Depot (one of the major
products holding facility for the
South West) to shut down over the
weekend.
According to Mr Alamu AYO –
Chairman Independent Petroleum
Marketers Association of Nigeria
(IPMAN) Satelite Depot, the depot is
not functional.
It broke down a few days ago
worsening distribution efforts of
marketers.
To make matters worse, another
major petroleum depot in the state,
Apapa Depot has no single product.
The combined capacity of the two
depots were currently in no way
able to serve Lagos as Marketers
who used to be given 102-105
trucks in the past are now
receiving 6-8 trucks daily.
He however stated that the
government entered into an
Memorandum of Understanding
with the marketers in which
Marketers were assured of product
availability by first week in May.
