Five years after the death of Dagrin, the
Yoruba rap music genre seems to be
going through its strongest phase ever
with no less than three bona fide
superstar mainstream artists coming
from the genre.
If the audience at #OLIC2 organised
by Right Ent, Achievas Ent & YBNL
knew all about Olamide, Lil Kesh and
Reminisce already, they certainly
found out more about Chinko Ekun
and Base One on Sunday night as the
latter two produced superb
performances that left the live
audience and those watching on TV
impressed by their lyrics and
delivery.
For upcoming artists in the Yoruba
rap genre, #OLIC2 may just have
been the “it†moment when the
indigenous genre attained super
genre status.
