Stoke increased the pressure Louis van
Gaal as Manchester United suffered a
fourth straight league defeat in all
competitions for the first time in 54
years thanks to a 2-0 defeat at the
Britannia Stadium.

Speculation began to build on Van
Gaal’s future at Old Trafford before
Christmas and his plight was not
helped by first-half strikes from
Bojan krkic and Marko Arnautovic.

Wayne Rooney – dropped to the
bench for o league game for the first
time in his career – was brought on
at the break in place of the
disappointing Memphis Depay.

Defeat means United, who face
Chelsea on Monday, drop down to
sixth 6th on goal difference and Van
Gaal’s positions is sure to come
under serious scrutiny once again.

Meanwhile, Stoke move up to eighth,
three points off the top four for a
few hours at least.
