The Barcelona duo are wanted by the
Premier League giants, who could
spend a combined £1 billion to bring
the South American superstars to the
northwest of England.
Manchester United and Manchester
City could spend £1 billion to bring
Neymar and Lionel Messi to the
Premier League, according to the
Sun.
Neymar was linked with a move to
Old Trafford towards the end of the
summer transfer window, and
reports suggest that United executive
vice chairman Ed Woodward has not
given up hope of landing the Brazil
international.
City, meanwhile, are desperate to
persuade Messi to swap the Camp
Nou for the Etihad Stadium, with the
Argentine allegedly ‘blown away’ by
the financial package on offer.
Both players would command hefty
transfer fees, with Neymar’s buyout
clause standing at £165 million and
Messi unlikely to be sold for
anythijng less than £150 million.
The duo would also push for
substantial weekly wages, with
£500,000 a week for Neymar and £1
million a week for Messi the
astronomical figures mentioned.
The deal could thus add up to around
£1 billion, but both United and City
are said to be willing to stump up
the cash in exchange for two of the
world’s best players.
