Officials of the Zamfara state police
command have hinted that no fewer
than four persons lost their lives in an
attack carried out by yet to be
identified gunmen.

The commands spokesman, DSP
Sanusi Amiru who confirmed the
incident to NAN on Thursday,
December 3, in Gusau, said the
killings took place in Tangaran
village in Anka local government
area of the state on Tuesday night.

It was further gathered that the
gunmen storm the village in the wee
hour of the night when residents
were preparing to take the night
nap. The gunmen reportedly opened
fire on the people outside, leaving
four people dead on the spot.

A witness who gave his name as
Kabiru Umar, told journalists that
11-year-old girl who was selling
bean cake is among those killed,
adding that when the girl’s mother
came to carry her corpse, she was
shot on her buttocks.

According to Umar, the development
caused pandemonium as other
residents swiftly locked their doors
while those outside scampered for
safety as the sporadic gun shots
continued.

The command mouthpiece also
hinted that six other people whom
sustained various degrees of injuries
were rushed to Anka General
Hospital by the police for urgent
medical attention. Amiru further
hinted that the police recovered
three bullet shells from the scene,
and assured that calm had returned
as the police continue to hunt for the
perpetrators of the dastardly act.

The force spokesman expressed
optimism that the assailants would
be apprehended soon.

Meanwhile, officials of the Lagos
state police command have killed
more than 12 gunmen suspected to
be armed robbers and miscreants in
the last two weeks.
