Yet their lead lasted a little over 10 minutes, Darren Fletcher nicking the ball off a dawdling Pedro and feeding Craig Gardner who smashed home a low shot from fully 25 yards. Hiddink opted to make a change at the break bringing on Kenedy for the disappointing Pedro and it was the Brazilian who looked to have won it for the Blues, sliding in with Gareth McAuley to put a Willian cross home. However, Tony Pulis’ side were not to be denied, sweeping past Thibaut Courtois from the edge of the box with just four minutes of normal time remaining.
